eHealth Network is transitioning to the national electronic health (eHealth) record system
For the last few months, you (and perhaps other members of your family) have been registered with your local eHealth Network. The establishment of the local eHealth Network has been a vital step in the development of the national eHealth system. Your participation has contributed to the future of eHealth services in Australia.
As you may be aware, the national personally controlled electronic health (eHealth) record system has now been launched, and this supersedes the local eHealth Network. The national eHealth record system operates across Australia and has a range of additional functionality over the local eHealth Network.
This additional functionality includes:
- personal online access so that you can view and add information to your record
- access to your Medicare and Pharmaceutical Benefits information
- ability for medical professionals anywhere in Australia to view your eHealth record (if you permit)
Further features will also be added to the national eHealth record system over time. As these features are added, your national eHealth record will become a central location for you, and those involved in your care, to access a summary of your key health information.
To register for a national eHealth record, you will need to verify your identity with Medicare. You can do this online by visiting www.ehealth.gov.au. You will soon be receiving an information pack through the mail which will contain key information and steps to fast track your registeration onto the national eHealth record system.
We thank you for your ongoing support and hope you will take the time to join the national eHealth record system. We believe that eHealth systems will revolutionise healthcare in Australia. If you have any questions about the national eHealth record system, please call 1800 723 471 or Visit the eHealth Learning Centre available at www.ehealth.gov.au.
